Hello and welcome!
We are Project ROC, a small team of modders and game developers with big ambitions. Our mission is to empower the next generation of game creators with the tools to create, share, and monetize great games—all without needing any coding or artistic skills.
Many of us got our start in game development by making custom arcade games with existing modding tools like the Warcraft 3 and StarCraft II editor; the kind of easy-to-use tools that spawned genres like MOBAs and tower defense games. While those kinds of tools are great for dipping your toes into game development, there are still significant barriers in transitioning from modding games as a hobby, to earning a living as a professional game developer.
We believe that by making game development more accessible for everyone, we can bridge the gap between hobby and career. That’s why we’re building the Project ROC game editor. Inspired by the classic game editors we grew up with, Project ROC is a modern game creation platform where anyone will be able to create and share games in a matter of minutes. To demonstrate, we threw together a demo of making a small game from scratch in about 10 minutes.
And we’re just getting started. Right now we’re using the Project ROC editor for the ongoing development of two of our own games—Wild Sky TD and Wild Castle (coming up with unique names is not our strong suit). We chose mobile as the platform for our first few titles, since that’s where our team has the most development experience.
The Project ROC editor is currently capable of launching games on PC, web, and mobile and we’re already working with some of our community creators to publish their games on PC.
Together we can fundamentally change how games are made, shared, and played. Checkout our Developer Accelerator Program.
